How to Save Money on Travel
Free advice... Nothing is for sale here.
Note: I am qualified to give you this information.  Last year I traveled over 100,000 miles.  I spent like I traveled 50,000.
Finding bargains can be hit or miss. But, I am going to tell you how to hit every time.

This is how you do it for ALL Travel including Cruises.
(You are 5 minutes away from the lowest possible price.  I do this all the time. It works for me and it will work for you.)

Read all 3 steps before trying it.
Step 1. First go to CheapOAir.com, then Airfare.com then go to Travelocity.com.
If you want to go to Europe, Africa, the Middle Eash, Central, and South America go to EconomyTravel.com first.

(Don't buy yet! We are just establishing a baseline. Don't forget to Bookmark this site before you leave!)
Step 2. Plan out your trip (Dates and Times) while remembering to be as flexible on dates and times as you can. The lowest price you get from one of these places will be our baseline lowest price.
Step 3. Now, it is time to slam the price! Let's say the best deal you can find for a flight is $400 plus tax.  How would you like to fly for $241 plus tax?
Take the lowest price you found above and subtract 40%. Round it up to the nearest dollar plus one dollar.  Then place a bid on Priceline.com.
Example: If the baseline price is $399, don't bid $239.40.  Round up add $1. Bid $241. This is Very important!

Make sure you are bidding for the same day you already checked for in step 1.  In this example you would have saved over $150.

Read these instructions one more time before you try it.
If you loose the bid on Priceline, cut your discount in half, use another credit card (and your spouse's name, if possible), and bid again.  If you still loose chances ae the baseline rate you got in Step 1  was a special promotional rate.  Make your purchase there.  That is the lowest rate.

Do you have a question?  Let me know. I will try to help you. Contact me at traveler@delwealth.com.

Lets talk about Hotels and Rental Cars.  This time only subtract 25% from the price when checking with Priceline (Remember to round up and add one dollar.)  The same deal goes here.  You almost never get the best deal by going directly to the the individual company websites.  They know that they have you once you get there.
If you go to the Hotel or Rental company website you will find it for 5 to 10% more or less than the sites mentioned above. But, this is usually not the bottom price the company is willing to take.
Your best deal is to be done the same exact way for Airline Tickets, as shown above.  But, this time there is a huge difference between travel sites. Do the same as you did in steps 1, 2, and 3 for airline tickets.
Never. ever, ever, ever, ever purchase anything at a company owned site.  You have special warranties and guarantees at the sights mentioned on this page that go far beyond what the actual company site is willing to offer.
For example.  If you purchase a ticket, hotel room, rental car, cruse, whatever from most of these sites and the price drops you are guaranteed a refund of the difference.  This is not the case at most company sites.  Can you imagine standing at the front counter of a luxury hotel demanding a discount for an already discounted price.
Yeah, Right! Good luck with that!

I use Otel.com, Hotels.com, and Travelocity.com a lot.  All have different deals. So, depending on where you are going the deal can be much different from site to site.  This time only subtract 25% from the price when checking with Priceline (Remember to round up and add one dollar.) Go to gtahotels first (they seem to have the best rates).

Same deal with rental cars.  I think you get the point.

How to Save Money on Travel
The three B’s of travel:
  • Begin early!
  • Be Flexible!
  • Be your own travel agent!
Begin early. While you can get some good last minute deals from time to time, usually you have to go to someplace that they choose and stay in a place they choose and drive the car they choose.  What if ‘they’ are not going where ‘you’ want to go?  The best deals and choices are available to people who plan ahead of time. The lowest airfares must usually be purchased at least three weeks in advance. Between 45 days and 60 days you get the best choice and usually the best price.
Be flexible. Weekends, special events, even time of day can make a huge difference in the prices you pay. Save by taking advantage of weekend stays, midweek flights and daily specials.
Be your own travel agent. (They really don't like that advice)  Travel agents get paid big commissions.  Sites like Travelocity and Expedia pass the savings on to you.
